Kinect Games Only Two Players

In case you haven't read about this yet, there is a lot of information on the internet about Kinect only supporting two players at once maximum. It seems these claims may only be rumors, however most people are now accepting this as fact. It isn't known whether the Kinect system itself can only support two players, or if it's just the initial games that can't.

This has stirred up a bit of controversy in the gaming community. Many people were under the impression that you could play with several people at once with no problems.

Promotional videos for Kinect games have shown families of four or more playing together at once. Apparently Microsoft hasn't exactly been the most honest with the gamers up to this point, and it makes sense of course. They aren't going to blurt out the fact that the Kinect only supports two players at once since that definitely takes some appeal away from the system in general.

In the technical specifications for the Kinect that have been released, it does say that it can track up to six people at one time. However, only two of these players are "active" at any given time. Could this be leaving the possibility open for games to support more than two players in the future? I guess we won't know until then. Check back for updates on the limitations of Kinect games.
